Two new Spirit Dolls

This is "Dream Girl", she was inspired to me by recent discussions with friends still looking for their soul mate. She is not the Goddess of Love, but she is a Spirit that will help us going through the jungle and dirt of our hearts so that we can face our inner truths, and find happiness.

She is made from a child's sari (which I bought in Pondichery), because often the wounds of our childhood prevent us making healthy choices even though we want to. Her hair is untidy, because she is a wild and free Spirit, or maybe the Lady is a tramp who just doesn't care about social conventions and lies. She is generous (she has "her heart on her hand" as we say in French). She is a filmbuff ; she has a rosebud from Citizen Kane - we all have our secrets - and seashells from Identification of a Woman - I never really understood what that film is about but there are great moments in it. She knows her Shakespeare : "If music be the food of love, play on". She wears flowers because I think she likes to visit Tahiti as often as she can. And she has a rose quartz chip for emotional balance.

I'm quite proud because I've succeeded in doing a picot edging for the first time.

A now for something completely different, "Arghhh - Working on frustration", which is still in progress :o)

Oh Tally, what a great destination, I hope you have a wonderful time ! Don't forget to check on the textile and silver work if you can ! :o)

You should try one of these dolls, It's not very technical and I find it's a great medium for meditation.

Thanks for your support Selerines.

I'm glad you like them KV :o)

Hugs.

"Arghhh - Working on frustration"
me fait penser au petit bonhomme de pain d'épices.

(DON'T go to the blog where this picture comes from or you will die for sure. Mais bon: a chacun son genre de frustration ;)

"arghh" you have got the feeling so right- how many times have I done something and gone "arghh", this is not going right!"

Your sentiments about childhood are spot on. I am still dogged by a comment made by the Head teacher at my primary school and repeated to me by my Mother because she thought it was apt. "Mrs Alden, Jacqui is a very bright little girl but she will never go anywhere because she is a plodder. Meaning she will get there eventually." I can still remember the sting of that sentiment but it has turned out to be truism.

Ah oui 006, le Gingerbreadman que tout le monde veut manger - bien vu ! J'ai un peu l'impression que mes nerfs sont bouffés par les soucis :o)

Hi Jacqui, reading your story, I can share your indignation and frustration !

Working on this little doll, gradually smoke stopped going out of my ears, and I even started giggling - that's the magic of plodding with beads ! :o)

I love all the thought that you put into the dream doll. I can see that you have spent a lot of time meditating on the different symbols that she carries with her. I love the way you think!
Thank you for all the comments that you have posted on my blog. Really feels like a cheering section!!!

seems to me you have a special flair for the spirit dolls. I have yet to make one. Am afraid, somehow ...

I was just wondering if you saw my entry about the symbols on my quilt and what they meant to me?

Wonderful... both of them! I can surely relate to both, you have expressed feelings so well with 'Dream Girl'.

And congratulations on completing the picot stitch, isn't it wonderful to be able to say, "I did it!"?

Oh yes Grace, I was really proud of myself ! I'm glad you like the dolls too :o)

Bises.
